Lil Wayne Top Ten – Mike Bibko

After a week-long hiatus due to midterms, the weekly Top Ten list is back and better than ever on the Pi Sigma Epsilon blog, the ultimate business fraternity and now your number #1 source for the latest in music.  Every week, I’ll be reviewing 5-10 songs, switching up bands/themes/genres, and giving you the links so that you can hear what you’ve been missing.  Got a favorite song you want on my list? Post it on our blog and I’ll do what I can to preview it for next week.

By now, most of you who know me well know that I’m a huge Lil Wayne fan and with the release of his eighth studio album, “I Am Not a Human Being,” you can guess what the theme of this week’s list is.  From the old days with the Hot Boys through the Tha Carter album series to the countless mixtapes including the most recent, No Ceilings (possibly his best ever), Lil Wayne’s delivered several number one hits, drastically changed the rap industry, and started his own record labelYoung Money Entertainment which has produced fellow superstars Drake and Nikki Minaj to name a few.  One of the best lyricists and collaborators on the planet, Lil Wayne’s work has spanned genres and continents.  Enjoy ten of the best from the world’s most downloaded artist, Lil Wayne.

10. Let It Rock ft. Kevin Rudolf

One of the top jams of ‘08 and the successful debut of Rudolf…provides a different feel for listeners who may not like hip-hop…”Let it Rock” may have encouraged Lil Wayne to go in a new direction temporarily with his seventh album,Rebirth, a rock-themed record.

9. Swag Surfin’

A freestyle-type jam backed by a one-of-a-kind beat…one of the best off No Ceilings you’re sure to want to download.

8. Can’t Believe It Feat. T-Pain

The debut of “T-Wayne,” a collaboration between Wayne and T-Pain…heavy use of the auto-tune feature gives this chart a relaxed vibe…a possible album from T-Wayne coming in 2011.

7. Hustler Musik

A Weezy classic off Tha Carter II…notice how much his voice has changed over the past five years…must be all the syrup…

6. California Love ft. Tyga

The rap version of an often-covered classic; the word play and a great closing verse by Tyga make this chart a must-listen.

5. Watch My Shoes

My favorite track off my favorite mixtape, No Ceilings.

4. Bedrock ft  Gudda Gudda, Nicki Minaj, Drake, Tyga, Jae Millz & Lloyd

The perfect showcase of Young Money’s talent, style, and range of lesser-known artists such as Tyga and Jae Millz.

3. Want You (ft.Lil’ Wayne)- Lloyd

A personal favorite, this chart by Lloyd features the perfect blend of his R&B influence and two of my favorite Lil Wayne verses…you’ll want to have this one.

2. All Alone

Another track off Tha Carter II…a shout out to the Hot Boys and words of wisdom for anyone who’s been through a breakup.

1. This Is The Carter

Weezy and Mannie Fresh combine for a self-entitled classic on the original Tha Carter.

So there you have it…my Lil Wayne top ten out of 322 songs haha…some difficult decisions there and plenty of great tracks not on this list so check them out.  Hit me up with requests or comments and I’ll see you right here next week. DJ Gold
