House/Dance Top Ten – Mike Bibko

Welcome back to the Weekly Top Ten on the Pi Sigma Epsilon blog, the ultimate business fraternity and now your number #1 source for the latest in music.  Every week, I’ll be reviewing 5-10 songs, switching up bands/themes/genres, and giving you the links so that you can hear what you’ve been missing.  Got a favorite song you want on my list? Post it on our blog and I’ll do what I can to preview it for next week.  NEW: I’ve been making an effort to include the official music videos when I can so make sure to take a look at a few of the links.

For whatever reason, certain trends that are very popular throughout the rest of the world have never caught on in the U.S. (see: football and the drinking age of eighteen…?!?!?).  House music is a perfect example of this phenomenon and how the majority of the American music scene’s missing out.  Going to some of the best clubs throughout Europe last year was an unparalleled experience and it’s a fairly undiscovered genre in America that I hope a lot of you might appreciate.   So take a party nap, grab your rave gear, glow sticks, and Red Bull: it’s the House/Dance Top Ten.

10. Riverside- Sidney Samson

A song that blew up in Amsterdam while I was there last year.

9. One Love (Remix)- David Guetta Ft. Fatman Scoop & Estelle

A perfect example of David Guetta’s genius.  The original chart was not even average, but the same song with a Guetta beat and a guest appearance by Fatman Scoop…worth your four minutes and change.

8. Veridis Quo- Daft Punk

Shout out to my good friend, Aaron Caryl, for this one.  A unique, almost hypnotic sound from a classic electronic influence, Daft Punk.

7. Infinity (Klaas Vocal Mix)- Guru Josh Project

A popular original with a good vocalist addition.

6. Room 414 (Cant Get Away) (Tube & Berger Remix)- Tomcraft

An amped-up progressive trance mix from one of Germany’s best.

5. California Dreaming (Remix)- Benny Benassi

Great sampling over one of Benassi’s trademark beats.

4. Deep at Night (Adam K & Soha Remix)- Ercola & Heikki L

A solid collaboration that’ll be stuck in your head for the rest of the day.

3. The New World-Markus Schulz

The newest track from the other legendary trance DJ not named Armin Van Buuren.  Missed seeing him live by one week…

2. Flashback (Eric Prydz Remix)- Calvin Harris

A joint project by two of house’s finest.  Also the strange case where the original happens to be just as good.

1. Angel On My Shoulder (EDX’s Belo Horizonte At Night Remix)- Kaskade & Deadmau5

Saved the track with the longest name for last…but when Kaskade and Deadmau5 team up, you’d better listen- favorite house track right here.

There it is. Don’t forget to hit me up with requests or comments and I’ll see you right here next week. DJ Gold
